Child Motorcycle Safety

Protecting Children in Virginia

What's wrong with this picture?

In the Commonwealth of Virginia, children under the age of 8 and are under 4'9"* are required to be in a car seat while riding in a motor vehicle and all other motor vehicle occupants are required to wear seatbelts.  Yet there is no law whatsoever prohibiting the transport of children on motorcycles!!

  • A child thrown from a motorcycle traveling at 55mph is equivalent to being thrown from a ten story building!!
