National Motorcycle Safety Statistics**

  • According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the use of a belt positioning booster seat reduces the chance of a child fatality by 54%, but we allow children to ride motorcycles with no protection whatsoever!
  • Motorcycle riders are 32 times more likely to die in a crash than those riding in automobiles
  • In 2005 there were 103,000 accidents involving motorcycles nationwide.
  • Of those nearly half resulted in serious injury and 4,655 fatalities; 947 of those were in Virginia. 41 of these fatalities were child passengers under the age of 16.
